40-Year-Old Woman Found Dead Inside Fairfield County Home

A 40-year-old woman was found dead inside her home after police were called to perform a welfare check in Fairfield County.

Jennifer Brelsford, of Bridgeport, was found dead inside a home at 176 Goodard Ave., around 8 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 18, by Bridgeport officers responding to the scene, said Bridgeport Police Capt. Brain Fitzgerald.

Fitzgerald said Brelsford was found with "obvious signs of trauma," to her body inside the home.

Detectives are currently processing the crime scene and are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the death of Brelsford, Fitzgerald said.

An autopsy is expected to be conducted on Monday, Oct. 19, to determine a cause of death.
